Fostering Brilliance

Over the weekend, I was commiserating with a friend as she described the friendship difficulty her grade 8 daughter was experiencing. The complexity of adolescent relationships and the intensity of social dynamics at that stage of life had played out at their dinner table for weeks on end. I did my best to empathize and offered a few thoughts borne out of experience both as an educator and a mother, but I know how tough it can be to support a child when a friendship is ending (or needs to end) and emotions are running deep. At times like these, it’s important to remember that listening with compassion is the most important thing we can do as parents.

Re-Enrollment Contracts 2024-25

Parents whose children will be returning to UTS for the 2024-25 school year had instructions on how to access and complete the re-enrollment contract emailed to them on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

Families are asked to please complete the contracts as soon as possible, as the contracts and deposit payments were due by January 26, 2024.

UTS Lunar New Year’s Gala

The first-ever UTS Lunar New Year’s Gala will be hosted on February 9 from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Withrow Auditorium. It will feature cultural-themed performances such as traditional Chinese instruments, traditional dancing, Mandarin and Cantonese songs, Taekwondo, poetry recitation, K-pop and hip-hop. 

Parents are welcome to join in to watch the performance after school. Please enter through the Washington doors and walk up to the Withrow Auditorium.


March Break Camps Update

Registration for March Break Camps continue to be available here

The Hands on Math program is now at capacity, and waitlist only; but Integrative Thinking (iThink, developed at the Rotman School of Business) has been added.

F1 and M3 International Schools Assessment (ISA)

As a reminder - In their period 1 and 2 classrooms on February 6 to 7 all F1 and M3 students will complete the International Schools Assessment (ISA).

This standardized assessment evaluates students’ mathematical, reading, writing and scientific literacy.

Senior Drama Showcase

Senior Drama Showcase features over 70 drama students from M3 through to S6 in two performances: Caryl Churchill's Love and Information, and an original play by Serafym Tsapko, one of our S5 drama students.

The interlude will also feature the Musical Theatre Club.

This all takes place in the Withrow Auditorium. Everyone is welcome. No tickets required.

Please note the change in the start time - it will now begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 22.


Flame Fresh Lunch Menu

Here are the February menus from Flame Fresh including the list of ingredients.

For February in addition to the regular menu they are offering a vegetarian menu in hopes of ensuring there are options for everyone.

UTS is also offering a hot lunch menu through Mindful Munch, which is brought to you by Basil Box!

Semi-Formal Tickets

The high school (M3-S6) Semi-Formal is just around the corner.

Here are the key details:

Date: February 15

Time: 7 to 10 p.m.

Location: Eglinton Grand, 400 Eglinton Ave W, Toronto, ON M5N 1A2

Cost: $50 includes Event Entry + Unlimited Pop Bar + Appetizers + Snacks

Important Note: There are no big bags or backpacks allowed at the venue; small purses are fine. 

Parents can conveniently purchase tickets for their child through their SchoolCash Online account.

Guest Tickets:

Students have the option to bring one guest from outside UTS. Here's how to purchase guest tickets:

  1. UTS Students must print out the Guest Form (digital or photocopies will not be accepted) and provide it to their guest.

  2. The form must be completed, signed and stamped by the Vice Principal or Principal of the guest’s school.

  3. The original hard copy (digital or photocopies will not be accepted) must be submitted to the UTS Main Office.

  4. If approved, the UTS student will receive a link to purchase a ticket on behalf of their guest.

Tickets go on sale January 29, and will close February 12.

By student request, new ¼ zip sweatshirts and ½ zip sweatshirts are now available in adult and youth sizes!

UTS socks are also available in a new style!
